What is Gold Tequila?

Gold tequila is made from the blue agave plant and a mix which is less than 100% agave which is distilled into alcohol. The coloring agent or the tequila age gives the gold color to the alcohol. Sugar and caramel coloring is added to the batch before fermentation to give it a smooth taste. Due to the additives, it has a smooth and bearable taste and is generally consumed as shots.

What is Silver Tequila?

Also known as blanco or white tequila, the silver tequila is characterized by being clear and transparent in color. Commonly found in bars, clubs and liquor stores; this tequila is easily confused for vodka due to the look and scent for amateur drinkers. It is bottled immediately after the distilling process for a very short period. Silver tequila can have a harsh taste which is often neutralized with salt and lemons in clubs but it works perfectly as a budget friendly base for cocktails. Since the manufacturing and packaging process is not so elaborate, silver tequila is more pocket friendly.
