  1. Meat size – The main difference between Pot Roast and Beef Stew is the meat size. Large pieces of meat are used in the Pot Roast while meat is cut into smaller chunks in Beef Stew with few vegetables.

  • Added vegetables – In Pot Roast, vegetables are not cooked with meat rather, it is presented as a salad or used for presentation. In Beef Stew, vegetables are cooked along with the chunks of meat in the form of a kind of soup or gravy.
  • Amount of Gravy – Pot roast does not have much gravy but on the other hand, beef stew is meant to be a stew with beef meat, so it has a huge amount of gravy in it.
  • Cooking Time – Pot roast involves cooking a big piece of meat, therefore it requires a longer time for the meat to be tender. On the other hand, beef stew involves cooking small chunks of meat which takes less time to become tender.
  • Cooking Method – Pot roast is generally cooked in the oven however; beef stew is cooked on top of the cooker.
