If you want proof of mail, you will have to show it to a clerk. Consult with your clerk in advance for the certified mail cost.  

Tracking Certified Letters 

If you want to enquire about tracking certified mail, just enter your unique tracking number into the Tracking Search Box on the USPS Website.

Then, bring Form 3800, the certified mail receipt, to a counter, where a postal clerk can help you finalize your transaction and make use of the certified mail tracking. At the post office or another mail facility, you may be able to obtain copies of Form 3800 and affix it yourself to the certified package.

Once your transaction is completed, you will get a receipt from the Post Office that includes the tracking number for each piece of mail that is tracked.    

What Should Your Receipt Include? 

Your receipt should include the mail itemized with the expected date it was delivered, followed by a tracking number.

This will bring you to an isolated screen, where you can input your tracking number, or simply type your receipt number into the box provided under the label “Track and confirm”.

If, for whatever reason, your shipping company is not listed on your notification, just flip over and you will find your item tracking number. You can pull up a delivery confirmation, including a signature scan, from the tracking page.
