Many people think that the words ‘Owner’ and ‘Proprietor’ are the same so they use them interchangeably but there is a difference in their usage. So, today I will compare these two words and help you understand their meanings and where you can use them interchangeably and where not.

The owner can be referred to as a legal state. The person who owns something is called the owner of that particular thing. Having ownership means having control over it completely including objects, land, or property.

The owner of a house or institution owns the benefit coming from that commodity.

Proprietor means the one who is the sole owner of cooperation or business. It could also mean that the person is the partner of the organization and it seems to be that he is in charge.

In other words, a Proprietor is someone who has been given the authority to manage an institution or an organization.
